TDI Explained

TDI is an engine technology developed by Audi, first presented in 1989. The first car released with this technology was a diesel engine with turbo charging, direct injection and electronic management at the Frankfurt Motor Show(IAA). From this platform turbodiesel technology with direct injection boosted to major success.

TDI of course, stands for Turbocharged Direct Injection. This features turbocharging and cylinder direct fuel injection. Direct Injection involves a fuel injector spraying atomised fuel directly into the main cobusion chamber of each cyliner. (wheras indirect injection where the atomised fuel is sprayed into the pre-combustion chamber).

The engine also uses whats known as forced induction that increses the amount of air that is able to enter the engine cylinders. On top of all this most TDI engines use an intercooler which lowers the temperature of the 'charged' or compressed air from the turbo, allowing a larger abount of fuel to be injected and combusted.

If youve ever driven an Audi with a TDI engine you can feel the difference in the engine with regards to power. You can get lots of torque from low revs. You can feel the great performance and power. On top of this they have great economy. This is what makes the TDI variant the most popular (albeit expensive) choice in any Audi range.

There you have it, TDI

New Audi Movie with Justin Timberlake

Part 1 of a 6 episodes in a mini-series for Audi. Not everyone would think that Mr.Trousersnake would attract any traffic however, since this video was posted yesterday there are already 5,402 views.
The first part is slow to start, especially considering they added credits in to a 90 second action movie??? Anyway, we think that this series will involve a lot of slick models and hopefully some serious car chases!

Audi A5 3.0 Beast

Check out this complete style kit for the A5. This was developed by Senner Tuning. My jaw dropped when I saw this, it suits the car so much and exaggerates the already sexy shaping. This is called White Speed and it is based on the Audi A5 3.0 TDI. The German company packed this car out with a lot of carbon fiber insertions. Its not all about looks, they also improved performance with a tuning kit that increases the cars 3.0 TDI enine power to 300 HP (up from 240HP). Due to this the Audi A5 Coupe will reach max speed of 280km/h.

Haha what a way to go! Id give anything to own this one! Sex on wheels.

Audi team up with Iron Man 22

Audi have teamed up on the promotion of the new Iron Man 2 movie. They have created an Iron Man 2 UK site. This website comes complete with a new game where you get to play as Whiplash, trying to destroy cars at the Monte Carlo Grand Prix. It can be a little bit of fun as a small distraction to work.

"At the core of the Iron Man suit is the worlds most innovative energy source; Repulor Technology. It is clean, powerful and despite the best efforts of the competition, it cannot be replicated." - Sounds like Audi ok!

They also have a compeition, in true promotional fashion. That involves creating and submitting an innovation. The winner gets $15k to develop their idea, a four day trip to california that involves a day at the Audi Sports Car Experience driving an Audi R8. There are other elements to the prize, but this is by far the best.

Audi A7 - More expert spying

A fantastic 4-door coupe release from Audi. Check this out!
The car was being test driven ahead of its Moscow Motor Show debut. Although its appearant that they are trying to disguise the car, we recognise easily some features from the A7 Sportback concept. There will be be a choice between a V6 and V8 TDI engines as well as a choice between 3.0-litre V6 with 268bhp or a naturally aspirated V8 putting out 372bhp.

How sweet is this!?!???

Buying a Used Car - Tips and Tricks for Tirekickers - Brakes

I think its really important to be able to properly assess a second hand car. Here are some tips on Brakes that you should look out for when you go to see your car.

Checking the Brakes

Go to an empty car park. Speed up to 30mph and come to a sudden stop. If it takes too long to stop or if the car pulls off to one side it may mean that the brakes need to be replaced.

How far do the brakes go down to the floor when you brake.

Check the brake fluid, if it's not the right color or looks watery, then its probably been a long time since the car has been serviced.

When your driving the car, if the steering wheel wiggles in your hands when you come to a stop, it could mean your rotors are bad.

Check if the emergency brake is weak.

The Beauty of the Audi A4 2.0 TDI e

I love Audi. Their machines just look so powerful and graceful. It is for sure one of the most elegant in the auto industry. For example, above, let me present the Audi A4 2.0 TDI e. A 2.0-litre diesel saloon that will surprise you.

I mean, doesn't that just look amazing? Looks aside, it is a real beast inside, managing over 60mpg and 120 g/km of CO2. (Which also means a £35 a year road tax). Which means that it is matching the BMW 316d on economy and emissions, but it tops the BMW in power, returning 134bhp and 236lb of torque to the BMW's 114bhp and 192lb ft.

Making it a beautiful ride is the suspension and 17-inch wheels matched with low resistance tyres.

Ahhhhhhhh....

Audi R8 - Release Impending

The Audi R8 is due for release soon. I thought the best way to start this blog would be to give you one of the first released pictures from of the Audi R8.

The Audi R8 V10 GT3 road car, can be seen above here being tested on the road in Germany. This car was born from demand in the auto industry following its win in last years FIA European GT Championship.
This is the car that was released at that time. What makes this little beauty so powerful is its V10-powered, rear-drive.

Audi want a road-going version that will rival the likes of the Porsche 911 GT3. The prematurely released picture, proves the existence of the road version.
You have every reason to be excited.

This version marks the start of Audi's plans to release a new R8 variant every year or two.
